High-Ranking Air Force Official Says World is ‘More Dangerous’ Now Than 40 Years Ago

A high-ranking member of the U.S. Air Force has come out saying that the world is far “more complex” under President Joe Biden than It has been during his nearly four-decade career in the military branch.

During an interview with MSNBC, Air Force Global Strike Command Commander Gen. Thomas Bussiere said the world is currently “more complicated, more complex, and dangerous than at any point” he’s seen during his time serving in the military.

Bussiere was asked by MSNBC co-host Jonathan Lemire to assess what’s happening around the globe.

“Give us, if you will, in light of these seemingly escalating threats, your sense of the state of play,” Lemire asked.

“So, I’ve been in the Air Force for 38 ½ years, and the world, as I see it today is more complicated, more complex, and dangerous than at any point in my career,” Bussiere responded.

“And that’s only exacerbated by the presence and the — what we would label as saber-rattling of the use of nuclear weapons,” he added.

“That’s why it’s so important, in my mind, to make sure the U.S. Air Force and Navy recapitalize our nuclear triad also,” he continued.

Following his assessment, USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page asked the Air Force official if he believed there was an event occurring around the world that lacked the attention of the U.S.

“Is there a place you think we’re not [paying] — an issue that we’re not paying enough attention to that keeps you up at night, something that really deserves attention than it’s getting now?” Page asked.

In response, Bussiere said the U.S. should pay more attention to China’s nuclear buildup in the Indo-Pacific region.

“So, I guess I would look at the entire globe as a[n] aspect for what we need to pay attention to,” he said.

“So, whether it’s in the Indo-Pacific region, with the rapid growth of the Chinese nuclear force or it’s the activities in the European theater with [Russia’s] invasion of Ukraine or it’s the activity on the [Korean] Peninsula with North Korea’s activities, if we step back from all of that, in addition to the activities in the Middle East, my job, my position is to make sure we have a sound, credible deterrent for the air leg and the land leg of the nuclear deterrence,” he added.

Bussiere continued by saying that the recapitalization of the nuclear triad is in process, according to Breitbart News.

The Air Force commander’s characterization of the world as “more dangerous” comes as Russia and Ukraine are at war and as Israel defends itself against Hamas — a terrorist organization — in the Middle East.

Under Biden’s watch, a war was unleashed across Europe and the Middle East. This comes as fears mount over China’s presence in the Indo-Pacific and the likelihood of an invasion of Taiwan.

Unlike Biden, former President Donald Trump was the only president under whose watch Russia did not invade another country. Notably, the former president signed the Abraham Accords, bringing peace to the Middle East.
