In another indication that President Joe Biden’s cognitive health has been rapidly deteriorating, a Republican senator has come out saying he saw the president suffering from dementia as far back as two years ago.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) recently said he was shocked to witness Biden mistaking his wife as one of his White House staffers several times during a reception, even after she told him who she was, per the Daily Mail.
Lee’s story serves as evidence that the president has, for some time, been suffering from dementia and a decline in his mental health.
Interestingly, it was not until after Biden’s poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump in November that Democrats began to express concerns over his weakening mental abilities.
While speaking to the Daily Mail, Lee detailed the awkward interaction that his wife and the president had two years ago.
The Utah Republican said that he and his wife were mostly shocked by the fact that they had met the president multiple times before the reception.
However, during the reception for congressional spouses, it seemed that Biden did not recognize Lee’s wife.
Biden asked her for her name and did not remember her despite having met her many times. He even asked if she worked for him in the White House.
After she told the president that she was Lee’s wife, Biden expressed confusion and again asked if she was one of his staffers.
Lee recently spoke with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, where he detailed the “weird” interaction that took place.

Biden “asked her ‘Do you work in the East Wing?’ and she said no Mr. President, I’m Sharon Lee, Senator Mike Lee’s wife.”

“He swore me into the Senate twice,” Lee told Carlson, referring to Biden.
“We had interacted with him a lot and she thought that would take care of it,” he said of his wife assuming the president would remember her.
“He looked confused,” Lee’s wife had previously said.
After telling his wife’s story, Lee said Biden “was not quite there.”
“There was a kind of a deer in the headlights phenomenon. [Sharon] said ‘it was like I was talking to somebody who wasn’t aware of what was going on,’” Lee said.
“I’ve interacted a fair amount with Joe Biden over the years, my wife a lot less, of course, but enough times that she was able to recognize what is his personality and what isn’t, and she realized this is very out of character for him,” he added.
“He just looked confused and forgot what he was supposed to do,” Lee went on.
The Utah senator said he has studied Biden’s heavy dependence on teleprompters since the president first took office in 2021. He said that out of all the presidents he’s served under, Biden has been the least interactive.
Lee said that Biden was “not being careful” while reading from a script over the phone.
‘Anyone who’s been in politics knows that you’ve got staff giving you things to guide your conversations you want to be careful about not, you know, at least obviously, reading from a script from a phone. And he was not being careful at all,” Lee revealed.
