Viral Video Shows Black Men Questioning Kamala Harris’ Racial Identity

In a viral controversial video, a group of Black men in a Pennsylvania barbershop were head questioning whether Vice President Kamala Harris is Black.

The video shows several Black men in the barbershop questioning whether the vice president is “Black.”

The New York Post noted that Harris is biracial. The vice president’s father is Jamaican-American, while her mother comes from an Indian background.

Ever since announcing her run for the presidency, opponents of Harris, such as former President Donald Trump, have claimed that the vice president is not Black, but rather Indian.

The video begins off with CBS reporter John Smith asking the men, “Is Kamala gonna make you a little more likely or less likely to vote Democrat?”

In response, one of the men looked at his peers and asked them, “Is Kamala Black, yes or no?”

One of the men said he’d “let her speak on that, but to me, no.”

“I share that same view,” another man said.

A fourth man jumped into the conversation, saying, “I heard she wasn’t. I heard she’s half black and half Asian.”

CNN aired the viral clip on Saturday. One of the outlet’s anchors, Michael Smerconish, discussed the video on his radio show, with several Black callers claiming that the men in the clip were “low information voters.”

Trump is one of several prominent figures who have questioned Harris’ race.

During an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago, the former president questioned the vice president’s racial identity, claiming she recently began calling herself “Black.”

“I’ve known her a long time indirectly — not directly very much — and she was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was black — until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black,” he said.

“Now she wants to be known as black so I don’t know is she Indian or is she black,” he added. “But you know what, I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn and … she became Black … somebody should look into that, too.”

“Is she Indian, or is she black?” Trump went on.

Trump’s comments were the subject of fierce debate between conservatives and liberals.

The former president’s comments came after he was asked by an ABC News reporter about his thoughts on conservatives labeling Harris as a “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) hire. This is a reference to President Joe Biden’s vow that he would choose a woman as his running mate in 2020.

Hours after Trump’s appearance at the Chicago event, Harris was asked to respond to his comments.

“It was the same old show,” the vice president said during an event in Houston. “The divisiveness and the disrespect. And let me just say, the American people deserve better.”

During a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Trump featured images on a screen pointing out Harris’ Indian-American identity.

On Truth Social, the former president showed a picture of Harris and her family wearing a saree, which is a women’s garment from India.
